This evening Swim England have provided clubs with a ‘strong recommendation’ to cease all activities.
As such, we will be ceasing training with immediate effect. Our Time Trials and Easter Meet will also be cancelled. It is likely but not confirmed that our May Sprint Meet will also be cancelled.
During this incredibly uncertain and worrying time we ask for our members to continue to support your club and our coaching staff to ensure we can continue where we left off when things are safe to do so.
It is likely that training will be cancelled for the whole of April and possibly beyond. We do not know the exact length of closure yet so we will have to continue to update you as more advice comes available.
The committee respectfully advise that we will not be refunding March fees as we already have incurred the majority of overheads and there is a huge admin burden for partial refunds.
However, we advise that you are able to suspend membership payments for the month of April if you wish. It is YOUR responsibility to cancel and reinstate your standing order with your bank and let us be very clear that we will not offer any refunds for those who do not do this and still pay. Your fees will still be due the next month. Fee arrears are also still due to the club and your account must be brought up to date.
The club will continue to have substantial overheads in April including our staff wages. It is in everyone’s interest to ensure continuity of employment for our coaches. We are therefore kindly asking for members to support your club and continue to pay your monthly fees or even a reduced amount if you can. We have some contingency funds but these will be depleted very quickly with zero income and the likely loss of around £30k in meet income.
Further updates will be provided in the coming days. We thank you for your continued support and patience in these trying times.
